In 2025, Centre Pompidou is beginning a major transformation !
In anticipation of the renovation of its iconic building, the performance and conference halls were the first spaces to close. However, the cine/video program continues throughout the renovation period, thanks to Centre Pompidou’s Constellation network of partner institutions, through which its spirit radiates across France and around the world, from 2025 until its reopening in 2030.
In Paris, starting in autumn 2025, come and discover the mk2 bibliothèque x Centre Pompidou in the 13th arrondissement. The entrance, located opposite the Bibliothèque nationale de France François-Mitterrand, is decked out in Centre Pompidou colors and hosts retrospectives, film series, talks, and masterclasses across its four screening rooms and atrium.

À travers le cinéma, la scénariste et réalisateur franco-sénégalais Alain Gomis cherche « non pas à raconter une différence, mais plutôt, dans une différence, essayer de trouver, d’enrichir le commun de visages ou de parcours qui [lui] sont familiers ». Au fil d’une œuvre composée à ce jour de six longs métrages, qui invite acteurs professionnels et non-professionnels à collaborer, il met en scène les récits invisibilisés de l’histoire récente.
En complément de la projection de ses six longs métrages – de L'Afrance réalisé en 2001 à 30 ans tout juste à Dao projeté lors de la dernière Berlinale – et d'un court réalisé spécifiquement pour la collection Où en êtes-vous ? du Centre Pompidou, Gomis propose des séances et rencontres avec d'autres artistes et intellectuel·les inspirants pour lui aujourd'hui – parmi lesquels l'historienne américaine Nell Irvin Painter, la cinéaste et écrivaine sénégalaise Khady Sylla, Samir Guesmi, un de ses acteurs fétiches, ou encore une sélection de productions du Centre Yennega qu'il a créé à Dakar en 2018…

The Ideal Cinematheque of the World’s Suburbs seeks to revisit the dominant imagination conveyed by images of the suburbs and the mechanisms of invisibilization to which they are subjected. Initiated by filmmaker Alice Diop and organized in collaboration with Les Ateliers Médicis, this program serves as both an observatory and a space for reflection. Each session, structured around a specific theme, presents a selection of films from diverse backgrounds (fiction and documentary, heritage or contemporary, poetic and political, short and feature-length), followed by a discussion.
