The Centre Pompidou Francilien – fabrique de l’art opens a new chapter in the history of Centre Pompidou, offering a fresh cultural experience in the Île-de-France region!
For the first time, the public is invited to explore the site during "Prélude!", three weekends offering an exclusive preview of this new venue and its architecture.
Located in Massy, south of Paris, and soon to be served by the Grand Paris Express transport network, the Centre Pompidou Francilien – fabrique de l’art is designed to bring together the 150,000 works in the collection of the Musée National d’Art Moderne – the largest modern and contemporary art collection in Europe – while offering visitors an unprecedented opportunity to discover the life of artworks up close.
Designed by Philippe Chiambaretta, founder of the architectural firm PCA-STREAM, and built by VINCI, this 30,000 m² building combines environmental performance with flexibility of use. Its architecture serves two complementary purposes:
- A centre dedicated to the conservation of artworks, providing exceptional facilities for preserving, managing and studying the collection, as well as for scientific research, supported by its proximity to the Paris-Saclay campus and key organisations across southern Île-de-France;
- Public spaces dedicated to presenting the collection, with two major displays each year, alongside educational and hands-on activities designed to foster a deeper understanding of museum professions and the life of artworks. The programme will also include encounters with museum professionals and artists in residence, performances and events, transforming exhibitions into a dynamic, living museum experience.
Preserving and sharing – by experimenting with new approaches to both museology and public engagement, the Centre Pompidou Francilien embodies a renewed vision of the museum.

For the first time, the Centre Pompidou Francilien – fabrique de l’art opens its doors to the public for "Prélude!": three free weekends offering an exclusive preview of this new venue dedicated to art, ahead of its official opening in spring 2027.
Visitors can explore the building independently or on a guided tour, discovering its raw architectural spaces, designed by Philippe Chiambaretta and his team at PCA-STREAM, whose vision echoes the Centre Pompidou’s iconic Beaubourg building in Paris.
Works from the Centre Pompidou collection punctuate the route, while a programme of performances, talks, workshops, concerts and more brings the visit to life. These events explore three themes inspired by the construction and location of the Centre Pompidou Francilien: architecture; nature and the surrounding area; and collective experience.
