With Bombyx mori (2015), Ola Maciejewska, the Polish choreographer, continues her research into Loie Fuller (1862-1928), which she began with her Loie Fuller: Research (2011) project. .

Transformed into a piece for three dancers, Bombyx mori questions the relations between bodies and artefacts: the dancers are equipped with batons and floaty fabrics, assembled after the fashion of the "dancing dresses" created by Loie Fuller, a pioneer of modern dance and creator of the famous serpentine dance.
With and through this textile material the dancers of Bombyw mori deploy a body of abstract and hybrid dreamlike forms. Disappearing amidst the twists and folds of these indefinable dresses, the bodies seem to blend into the material. Like the silk worm, bombyx mori, whose existence is an intermediary stage in its development, the performance presents a visual reflection on the hybrid nature of things
