A sensory exhibition in Corsica, for the second collaboration between the Centre Pompidou and De Renava. An immersive, atmospheric experience wandering through light and colour, explored by artists in multiple dimensions – physical, perceptual and philosophical.

Plein Soleil is part of OFF 02 and the second phase of the partnership launched with the Centre Pompidou in 2023. It will present works from the institution’s collection, never seen before in Corsica, at the Caserne Montlaur, an exceptional heritage space of 5,000 m2 in the centre of Bonifacio.
This new encounter between the Centre Pompidou’s collection and the Citadelle de Bonifacio brings together over 20 works from the Visual Arts, New Media, Design and Cinema Departments, covering a period of around 60 years of creation, from 1958 to 2021.
The selection features French, international and Corsican figures in contemporary art: Yto Barrada, Elisabetta Benassi, Carlos Cruz Diez, Judy Chicago, Studio Drift, Laurent Grasso, Robert Irwin, Mireille Kassar, Ange Leccia, Maurizio Nannucci, Phil Niblock, Chihiro Tanaka, and more... The selection of works illustrates the way in which light and its chromatic modulations, essential to our understanding of the world, become an artistic medium in and of themselves. “Plein Soleil” is part of broader reflection on the relationship between humans and our environment, in which the colour celebrated by these artists resonates with the bright light and sun-soaked landscapes of the “Île de Beauté”.
