The event is over
Many people arrive in the New City from outside, blend together, find a place. Their histories intermingle and are embodied here in Cergy, where Annie Ernaux wrote the greater part of her work built on the observation of others and on her personal history.

The political challenge of J'ai aimé vivre là (I Liked Living There) was to recount this place with a disarming gentleness. Sauder has the audacity to evoke a place that people are happy to live in. It can be disturbing, precisely because it contradicts everything we are used to seeing and hearing. Until Annie Ernaux's voice came along, with her very beautiful texts recounting the pleasure of strolling in the city, lending poetry to ordinary actions.
