Voûtes et Volutes is an installation suspended above the public, made up of around 20 articulated strings of pennant flags, attached to a thin dyed wooden frame. The hanging flags awaken in turn, creating ephemeral shapes that transform, respond to each other and compose a choreography of a few minutes at regular intervals.

This textile installation is inspired by the ribbon events in rhythmic gymnastics, as well as the Serpentine Dance by Loïe Fuller; like a mechanical ballet inhabiting the Salon Seine and offering new resonance with Jean Tinguely’s works in movement presented in the Grand Palais exhibition.
Marion Pinaffo and Raphaël Pluvinage are an artist couple, designers by training, who have gravitated towards large-scale constructions. The main theme of their work involves creating dialogue between the public and a scientific, technical installation – via manipulation – and sparking curiosity and fascination. The works are designed to be intuitive and accessible, inviting the public to explore and interact, using materials while seeking to produce the most sophisticated effects.
Extend the experience by activating the installation in a variety of ways, with games and activities on offer at the Fun Counter on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 7pm, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3pm to 7pm (except during school holidays) and every day except Mondays during school holidays.
