The event is over

Deimantas Narkevicius's body of work is rooted in the profound political, social, and ideological disruptions that his native country, Lithuania, experienced after the end of the Soviet era. His works examine personal and shared experiences of history, memory, and amnesia.
Trained in realist socialist sculpture, the artist takes a critical step back to look at this legacy in a way that is less a condemnation than an aesthetic and political meditation that can reveal downward spirals in contemporary society. Films, photographs, drawings, sound installations and creations highlight the problems of this cultural history, underlining the impossibility of an objective stance and revealing its complexity.
