An emblematic figure of outsider art, Corbaz transposed "the ancient natural world of days gone by" in her sumptuous compositions.

Corbaz's prolific creativity emerged in a psychiatric hospital, where she lived from 1918. Her drawings reveal a ghostly theatrical world marked by youthful memories of the palace of Potsdam with the chaplain of Wilhelm Il. She gives form to a magical world through shattered fragments of her past: princely figures and heroines with big blue eyes are intertwined in a voluptuous harmony of colour and ornamentation. Corbaz's writings shed light on both her sufferings and her work, preserved thanks to her doctors, Dr Hans Steck and Dr Jacqueline Porret-Forel.
