In winning the competition for the Hôtel Industriel Berlier in 1986 – an office building designed as a “glass brick” that reveals the activities it houses while reflecting its own environment – Dominique Perrault situated himself in a decisively contemporary geography and temporality in which transport interchanges and fanning railway tracks form a gleaming, glistening, living system, and the wall becomes an active site of the constitution of interrelations.
