Mohamed Camara photographs his own everyday activities and those of friends and family as they unfold in the cramped and intimate interiors of the Malian capital, contriving a subtle equilibrium between staged narrative and openness to chance. The artist invites the viewer to imagine how the photo-story continues, inviting one to a poetic journey in which bodies are engaged in perpetual metamorphosis by the play of powerful contrasts of light and shade, translucencies of many kinds, and discreet avoidances of focus.
