LetterOne

Like a student facing the board, the form of LetterOne is a sculptural personification of the artist placed as an observer of his own cerebral activity in the drawing Peep-Show.

Boris Kurdi, whose heavy and grotesque humanoid "1" is proportionate to his own measurements, has created a hollowed-out sculpture: an empty shell through which he confronts the visitor with the emptiness of a standardised model of society based on competitiveness. LetterOne makes reference to the skyscrapers of capitalist societies and is a sign of this rationale for efficiency to which school contributes by guiding individual decision-making.
