In the middle of his life, Jean-Christophe Norman, a mountaineer and climber, contracted a pulmonary illness that brought him to the threshold of death. From this liminal experience emerged a body of artistic work centered on repetition, walking, and the creation of mental landscapes painted with pages from iconic works of literature.
Ulysses by James Joyce, The River Without Shores by Hans Henny Jahnn, or The Thousand and One Nights. His works endlessly postpone the question of endings.
With the performance Trompes-la-mort, presented between the Centre Pompidou and the Grand Palais, Norman scatters tales along this long trajectory. This drawing in space takes the form of a prologue where the ephemeral and the infinite intertwine
