1024 Farben (350-3)
(1024 couleurs (350-3))
1973
Regularly changing method and style, Gerhard Richter developed a new way of treating colour in the 1970s.
For 1024 Farben (350-3), he "worked out a system which - starting from the three primaries, plus grey- made possible a continual subdivision through equal gradations." The choice of the multiplication factor 4 is "in relation with the image size, the square size and their number." For the artist, the overall effect derived from the random distribution of colours tends towards the infinite.
